The Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc. *Historic Gold Hill and Mines Foundation, Inc.* (est. in 1992) is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Gold Hill and it’s cultural heritage. With 501(c) (3) status, all donations to the foundation qualify for maximum tax deductions. The foundation relies on rental of it’s facilities at Gold Hill Mines Historic Park, as well as private donations for all operating expenses. It’s holdings include 400 acres of mineral rights, the 70 acre Gold Hill Mines Historic Park with the Russell-Rufty Memorial Shelter, Gold Hill Jail, Bernhardt Family Log Barn, the Assay Office Museum, the Post Office Museum, Restored Powder House, a nineteenth century restored Chilean Ore Mill and an outdoor amphitheater with a 30’x40′ covered stage. The park also includes the Barnhardt, Randolph, Miller and Johnson Gold Mine Shafts, as well as the Gold Hill Pond. The foundation is committed to preserving the park property in it’s original, natural state, creating an environment for educational studies and family recreation. Gold Hill Historic Preservation Society Mission Statement: GHHPS works to protect the significance of the historic gold mining town of Gold Hill, North Carolina. Our mission is to restore and preserve all of the old buildings and infrastructure. Not only in Gold Hill but surrounding counties like Rowan, Cabarrus and Stanly counties. Gold Hill Merchants Association The Merchants association includes 12 shop owners in the Gold Hill Village. The group is host to numerous monthly events held in the village.
Gold Hill Lions Club Mission Statement. To empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace and promote international understanding through Lions clubs.
The Gold Hill Lions Club is sponsor of the North Carolina Lions Inc Mobile Screening Unit during Gold Hill Founders Day. Vision and hearing exams are provided at no cost to the individuals who are screened at the event. On a continuing basis the club supplies food to the Back Pack Buddy program at Morgan Elementary School in addition to $300-500 in school supplies. During the holidays the group supplies meals to low income families and individuals in the community. They host a Christmas party including a full meal to all of the visually impaired in Rowan County. The club is host to a Christmas Bingo Party with gifts and Christmas carols at the Veterans Hospital in Salisbury, NC. The Gold Hill Lions Club meets bi-monthly in Miners Hall at the Russell-Rufty Shelter at Gold Hill Mines Historic Park.
