Historic Gold Hill North Carolina is a destination on the North Carolina Gold Trail.
The Gold Hill Rail Trail is also part of the Carolina Thread Trail and North Carolina Rail Trails.

The old railroad trestle is long gone. Today the Gold Hill Rail Trail winds down into the ravine, crossing
Leonard’s Spring Creek and up the hillside to connect with the trail on the other side.
The moss covered trail lies undisturbed under a canopy of trees as if awaiting the return of the
narrow gauge train laden with coal to fire the furnaces that aided in the gold refinery process.
